1. Who operates this site

This Privacy Policy describes how Doxprint LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company ("Doxprint," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with quietlykilling.com (the "Site"). Doxprint LLC publishes What Is Quietly Killing Your Company and operates this Site. Sharam Kohan is the author of the book and holds the copyright in it and in the writing on this Site, which he licenses to Doxprint LLC for publication.

The Site exists to describe a book, to publish essays on its subject, and to receive correspondence about both. It is not a shop, it is not a service, and it is not built to learn anything about you. This policy is written to describe what actually happens rather than to reserve rights we do not exercise.

2. What this site collects

Information you choose to send us. The Site has two forms. The contact form asks for your name, email address, a subject, your organization if you wish to give it, and your message. The speaking and media inquiry form asks for your name, your title, your organization, your email address, the type of event, a proposed date if you have one, and a description of the event. Fields marked with an asterisk are required; the rest are optional.

The record of your acknowledgment. Each form carries a checkbox confirming that you have read this policy and the Terms of Use. When you submit the form, the fact that you ticked the box, the version of the policies in effect, and the time of submission are recorded in the message that reaches us.

What the web server records. Like every web server, the one hosting this Site keeps standard access logs. Those logs record the requesting internet protocol address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser and operating system reported by your device, and the page you came from. These logs are generated by the hosting provider for security and diagnostic purposes.

What analytics measures. Google Analytics records that a page was opened, which page it was, approximately where in the world the request came from, and which website or search led you here. It uses the cookies described in section 5 to tell a returning browser from a new one. It is not tied to your name or your email address, and it is separate from anything you send through a form.

What the Site does not collect. There is no account to create, no password to set, no newsletter to join, and no public comment section. The Site does not ask for a postal address, a telephone number, a date of birth, a payment method, or any government identifier. It does not collect biometric information, precise location, health information, or any other category of sensitive personal information.

Where form submissions go. A submitted form is delivered to us as an email message. It is not stored in the Site's database and it is not written to any file on the Site.

3. What we do with it

We use what you send us to read your message, to answer it if an answer is called for, and to keep a record of the correspondence. We use it to evaluate speaking and media inquiries. We use it, where necessary, to comply with the law or to protect the Site against abuse.

We do not use it to build a profile of you. We do not use it for advertising. We do not sell it, rent it, trade it, or share it for anyone else's marketing purposes, and we have never done so.

4. Who else receives it

The hosting provider. The Site is hosted by Hostinger, which necessarily processes every request made to the Site and keeps the access logs described above.

The mail provider. A form submission travels as email, which means it passes through the mail servers that carry it and rests in the mailbox that receives it.

Google. The Site uses Google Site Kit, which connects it to two Google services.

Search Console reports to the Site owner how the Site appears in Google search results. It reports totals and does not identify individual visitors to us.

Google Analytics measures how the Site is used: which pages are opened, approximately where in the world the request came from, and which website or search brought you here. It works by loading a script from Google on every page and setting the cookies described in the next section. Google processes this information as our service provider, and Google’s own privacy policy governs what Google in turn does with it. We use it for one purpose: to see which parts of the Site people actually read.

Legal process. We may disclose information where we are required to by law, or where disclosure is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim, or to protect the rights or safety of any person.

There is no other recipient. No advertising network, data broker, social platform, or marketing service receives anything from this Site, and nothing collected here is used to build an advertising profile of you.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Analytics cookies. Google Analytics sets two cookies on this domain the first time you open a page here: _ga and _ga_YSZRPRNQMS. Each holds a randomly generated number that lets Google recognise a returning browser as the same visitor rather than a new one. Both expire 400 days after your most recent visit. They are set as soon as a page loads; the Site does not ask you first.

You can refuse them. Blocking cookies for this domain in your browser settings, or installing Google’s own Analytics opt-out browser add-on, stops this measurement. Nothing on the Site stops working if you do.

Beyond those two, this Site sets no advertising cookies and no profiling cookies, and it embeds no advertising network, no remarketing pixel, and no social platform tracker.

WordPress, the software the Site runs on, sets cookies when someone signs in to administer the Site. That means the Site owner, and nobody else. If you do not sign in, WordPress sets no cookie for you.

The hosting and caching layer may set a strictly necessary cookie in order to serve pages correctly. It carries no information about you and is used for nothing else.

Typefaces are served from this domain. The three typefaces this Site uses are hosted here rather than requested from a font service, so displaying a page makes no request to any third-party font provider.

6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

This section is provided under California Business and Professions Code section 22575, subdivision (b)(5), which requires an operator to disclose how it responds to browser Do Not Track signals.

This Site does not currently change its behavior in response to a Do Not Track header or to a Global Privacy Control signal. We state that plainly rather than claim a response we have not built.

What the Site does collect is set out above: Google Analytics measurement, held in first-party cookies on this domain, used to count visits and to see which pages are read. The Site does not follow you across other websites, embeds no advertising network and no remarketing pixel, and does not sell personal information for money.

If you would rather not be measured, blocking cookies for this domain stops it. The section above sets out that and the other ways to refuse.

A Global Privacy Control signal communicates a request not to sell or share personal information. We do not sell personal information. Whether analytics measurement of this kind amounts to “sharing” as California defines that term is a question on which reasonable views differ, and we would rather describe exactly what happens here, as we have above, than rest on a label.

7. Tracking by other parties

This section is provided under California Business and Professions Code section 22575, subdivision (b)(6).

Google Analytics, described in sections 4 and 5, runs on this Site and is operated by Google rather than by us. Apart from that, no advertising network, data broker, or social platform collects personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across other websites through this Site. The Site embeds no advertising tag, no remarketing pixel, and no social media widget.

Links on this Site lead to other websites, including the retailer that sells the book. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's website, subject to their practices and not to this policy.

8. How long information is kept

Correspondence is kept in the recipient mailbox for as long as it is useful to keep it, and is deleted when it is not. Where a message concerns a legal matter, a rights or permissions question, or a speaking engagement, it may be kept longer as a business record.

Server access logs are kept by the hosting provider on its own schedule, which is short and is measured in days or weeks rather than years.

You may ask us to delete correspondence you have sent. See the next section.

9. Reviewing, correcting, and deleting what you sent

This section is provided under California Business and Professions Code section 22575, subdivision (b)(2).

If you have written to us through the Site and you want to know what we still hold, to correct it, or to have it deleted, write to us through the contact page and say so. We will confirm the request, and we will act on it unless we are required to keep the material by law or need it to establish or defend a legal claim. Because we hold so little, this is usually a matter of deleting an email.

We do not charge for this and we will not ask you for identification beyond what is needed to be sure we are answering the person who wrote.

10. Security

The Site is served exclusively over an encrypted connection. Form submissions are transmitted over that connection. Access to the mailbox that receives them is protected by a password and by two-step verification.

No method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise. What we can say honestly is that the Site holds very little, which is the most effective protection available.

11. California privacy rights

The California Consumer Privacy Act. The CCPA, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to a "business" that meets at least one of three thresholds: annual gross revenues above a figure adjusted for inflation, which the California Privacy Protection Agency set at $26,625,000 effective January 1, 2025; or buying, selling, or sharing the personal information of 100,000 or more California consumers or households in a year; or deriving 50 percent or more of annual revenue from selling or sharing personal information. Doxprint LLC meets none of them and is therefore not a "business" as the CCPA defines it.

We say so plainly rather than claim a compliance status we do not hold. Whether or not we are obliged to, we will honor a request from a California resident to know what personal information we hold about them, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted, on the terms described in the section above. There is nothing to opt out of with respect to sale or sharing, because neither occurs.

The California Online Privacy Protection Act. CalOPPA applies to the operator of a commercial website that collects personally identifiable information from California residents, without any revenue or volume threshold. It applies to this Site, and this policy is written to satisfy it: it identifies the categories of information collected and the categories of parties with whom it may be shared, describes how you may review and change your information, describes how we notify you of changes, states its effective date, and discloses how we respond to Do Not Track signals and whether other parties may track you here.

Shine the Light. California Civil Code section 1798.83 permits a California resident to request information about personal information disclosed to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We disclose none, to anyone, for that purpose.

12. Other state privacy laws

A growing number of states have enacted comprehensive privacy statutes. Most, like California's, apply only above thresholds of revenue or of the number of consumers whose data is processed, and Doxprint LLC falls below them.

Our answer does not depend on which state you write from. If you ask what we hold, we will tell you. If you ask us to correct it or delete it, we will, subject to the limits described above.

13. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children. It is written for executives, managers, human resources professionals, scholars, and general readers, and its subject matter holds no interest for a young child.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13, which is the threshold set by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If you believe a child has sent us information through the Site, write to us and we will delete it.

14. Links to other websites

The Site links to other websites, including the retailer that sells the book, the sites for the author's other books, and sources cited in the essays. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Read their policies if you are concerned about them.

15. Changes to this policy

This section is provided under California Business and Professions Code section 22575, subdivision (b)(3).

If this policy changes, the effective date at the top of this page changes with it, and the revised policy takes effect when it is posted here. Where a change is material, the new date is the notice: we do not make a change quietly and leave the old date in place. The version identifier recorded with each form submission changes at the same time, so it is always possible to establish which version of the policy was in effect when a particular message was sent.

We encourage you to look at the date at the top of this page before sending anything you would not want handled under different terms.
